Play now looks like the phone it runs on

iPhone 18 Pro hardware, a light and dark switch, and screenshots right from Play.

Play is where a design starts to feel like an app. We rebuilt how it looks so that what you see is closer to what you will hold, and everything you need sits in one panel beside the device.

Real hardware around your screens

Your app now plays inside a drawn device, with the iPhone 18 Pro at 402×874 as the default. The name under the device opens the device menu, and the Bezels switch shows the bare screen.

Light and dark, one click apart

The panel switches the stage and your app between light and dark, so you can check both themes on the screen you are already on. It works in shared Play links too.

Screenshots, zoom and restart

  • Screenshot takes a picture of the device as it stands, with or without its bezels.
  • Zoom runs from 25% to 200%. By default the device fits the stage.
  • Restart takes the app back to its first screen.

Presses go to your real components

Play renders each screen with the same runtime your built app uses. A press reaches the component, so buttons, tabs and navigation behave as they will on a device.

All of this arrives in Mapples Creator with the 2.0 release.
